Collins, Willie Mae Hunt
Funeral services for Willie Mae Hunt Collins, 94, of Cornelia were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Wes Davis officiated, with burial in Southview Cemetery, Thomaston.  Mrs. Collins died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.  Born in Clayton County on Jan. 1, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Emma Belle Cooper Hunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Collins. Mrs. Collins was the former owner of Mays Grocery in Ft. Valley for 17 years. She was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.  Survivors include her sister, Irma Teague Pettingill of Toccoa.  Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin was in charge of arrangements.

Kennedy, Harvey John Jr.
78, died Jan. 4, 2003. He was born in Barnesville on April 9, 1924. He was the son of the late Harvey and Marisu Kennedy. A graduate of Gordon Military College and the University of Georgia School of Law, he was in his 55th year of practicing law in Barnesville.  HE WAS A CAPTAIN IN THE U.S. ARMY: 86th INFANTRY DIVISION, DECORATED PURPLE HEART, BRONZE STAR AND COMBAT INFANTRY BADGE. HE SERVED IN BOTH EUROPEON AND PACIFIC COMBAT IN WORLD WAR II. A member of Chi Phi and Delta Theta Phi fraternities, ABA, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (VP, 1968), Towaliga Bar Association (president, 2000-01), American Legion (commander post No. 25), Moose (32nd degree Shriner) and amateur radio operator. He served as an elder in the Barnesville Presbyterian Church and clerk of the session. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean King Kennedy; daughter, Marisu Kennedy of Hadley, NY; and daughter and son-in-law, Gay and Wayne Robinson of Fayetteville. Also surviving are grandsons, Preston and Brett Robinson of Fayetteville. The family received friends on Sunday, Jan. 5. Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Barnesville First Baptist Church with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Barnesville Presbyterian Church or the First Baptist Church of Barnesville.  Ashley Harvey Griffin The Rev. Ashley Harvey "Buck" Griffin, 96, of Roswell, formerly of Locust Grove, died Jan. 4, 2003. He was born Aug. 17, 1906, in Omega, Ga., the son of the late Annie Kelly and William Ashley Griffin.  He was an ordained minister with the Church of God of Cleveland, Tenn., and he served as pastor to several congregations in Georgia before his retirement. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Donnis Brock Griffin in 1996, and a son, Reuel Griffin, in 1973. Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Everett Copeland (Germaine) of Roswell and Mrs. Thomas Bramlett (Beverly) of Acworth; son, Donald Brock Griffin of Griffin; brother, Fred Griffin of Quitman; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Glass of Rex World Outreach officiating. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Portsbridge Hospice, 4598 Barclay Drive, Dunwoody, Ga. 30338, or Church of God Aged Ministers' Fund, North Georgia Church of God Executive Offices, 962 Parkside Walk Lane, Lawrenceville, Ga. 30043. Menard, Michael Ashley
24, of McDonough, died Jan. 11, 2003. He was a member of Community Bible Church and a 1996 graduate of Eagle's Landing High School. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Michael and Deana Menard of McDonough; mother and stepfather, Beth and Jimmy Barrett of Baldwin; grandparents, Dick and Shirley Menard of Forest Park and Jim and Barbara Oliver of Stockbridge; half sisters Amanda and Michelle Willis and half brother Chris Barrett; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. David Gillette officiating. Interment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Garden. Stone, Geraldine Bartlett
85, of Morrow, died Jan. 11, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Forest Grove Cemetery on Courtney Drive in Forest Park with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating.  Family and friends will meet at the cemetery on Tuesday at service time. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.  She is survived by her son, Charlie Stone; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Eileen Stone; grandchildren, Gary Stone Jr., Chris Stone and Katie Stone; and several nieces and nephews.  Pope Dickson Morrow Chapel, (770) 961-2700, is handling arrangements. ***** Submitted by:  Jean Harton

Julia Evelyn McCullough, 74, of Jackson, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the Westbury Medical Care Home.  McCullough was born June 8, 1928, in DeKalb County to the late Charlie Gordon Guinn and the late Julia Norman Medlock Guinn. She was preceded in death by her husband John Olin McCullough and was retired from the Royal Insurance Company.  Survivors include a brother, James Marvin Guinn of Lilburn; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Palmer of Jenkinsburg, Marjorie Whidby of Jackson and Burrell McCullough of Marietta; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were Sunday in the Forest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum in Forest Park.
