Mrs. Imogene R. NASH, 92, of Morrow, passed away April 30, 2003.She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton A. Nash. She is survived by her children, Samuel Garner of Forest Park, Dorothy J. Whitmire of Morrow; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Allen Hobart of Morrow; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Lou Garner of Woodstock, and Henry and Pat Garner of Jonesboro; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with remains placed in state one hour prior to service time. The Rev. Dewey Robinson and Dr. Robert L. Suzanne Kitchens HANEY, age 32, of Stockbridge, died May 1, 2003. She was enrolled as a student at Gordon College in the nursing program. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Haney; children, Ronald Bert George III, Rachel Ann George, Justin Talmadge Haney, Jennafer Lauren Haney, Jerry G. James Thomas EDMONSD III, 59, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003. Sara Gladys ALLEN, 87, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003. Albert Harris DADE, 64, of Rex, passed away May 2, 2003. Survivors include wife, June Dade of Rex; sons Darrin Lee Dade of Newnan, Michael Dade; step-daughter, Ranee Dial of Ellenwood; three grandchildren; one nephew. Jesse Walton CATES, 78, of Peachtree City (formerly of Jonesboro) passed away following complication from surgery on May 3, 2003. Cates was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. HE WAS ALSO A VETERAN OF THE U.S. NAVY, WHERE HE SERVED IN WORLD WAR II AND PARTICIPATED IN THE NORMANDY INVASION. Survivors include his wife, Nell Cates of Peachtree City; one daughter, Kelli Cates Beck of Peachtree City; one brother, Tom Cates of Trenton, Ga.; two grandchildren, Megan and Morgan Beck; nieces and nephews, Brenda Green, Beverly Tinney, Tammy Elliott, Tommy Knight and Tommy Cates, and several other nieces and nephews. Shelby Jean PATTERSON of Jonesboro, formerly of Forest Park, died April 29, 2003 at Southern Regional Hospital of cancer. Survivors include daughters, Rhonda Wynn of Forest Park and Pamela Gann of Lake City; a brother, Donald Fincher and wife Wanda of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Her wish was to donate her remains to Emory School of Medicine. A private service was held for the family.

Bertha (Bert) Maynard CARROLL, age 62, of Bank Street, Tellico Plains, formerly of Jonesboro, Ga., passed away at 7:50 a.m. Thursday May 8, 2003 at U. T. Medical Center. Was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are a daughter, Elizabeth Stewart and son, Gary Maynard, both of Williamson, Ga.; step-children, Stacey Howard, Brian Carroll, both of Marietta, Ga. and Wayne Carroll of Savannah, Ga.; seven grandchildren, one great grandson; Sisters and brothers in law, Bessie and Cecil Roach of Madisonville; Mary Koons of Vonore, Brenda and Bobby Hackler of Madisonville; sister-in-law Jeannette Russell of Vonore; several nieces and nephews. Jerry STRENGTH, 43, of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003. He was born Dec. 20, 1959, in Fulton County to Morris Lafayette Strength and Ruby Nelson Strength. HE WAS A U.S. NAVY VETERAN and retired batch house attendant. Survivors include his wife, Christine Smith Strength; a daughter and son-in-law, Farrah and Josh Gray of Carrollton; parents, Morris and Ruby Strength of Morrow; sisters, Brenda Denman of Morrow and Rita Coleman of Jonesboro; and a brother, William "Bill" Strength of Tyrone. George Edward STUBBS III died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, May 12, 2003. He was born Jan. 28, 1965, in Fulton County, Ga. He was blessed to be brought up by his loving mom, Joyce, and later his step-dad, Don. He was the eldest of four children and shared the home with his two sisters, Robin and Lesa, and his brother, Keith. He graduated from Jonesboro Senior High. He then attended Tulane University, where he met the love of his life, Brenda, while he was a sophomore. They married that year and had been inseparable ever since. Ed went on to attend the University of Oklahoma Medical School. He then moved with Brenda, David and Laura to Charlotte to be a resident in Obstetrics-Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center. They fell in love with North Carolina and its people and decided to stay. Allison was born during this time, and after a four-year residency program, Ed joined the practice of Eastover OB-GYN and opened an office in the university area. He was devoted to his patients and loved his work and his partners. He was most devoted, however, to his family. Ed would drop anything at a moment's notice to spend time with any of them. He was aware that time was precious to all of us, and he made the most of every minute. His sister, Lesa Strickland, preceded him in death. A Memorial Mass will be conducted at noon Friday, May 16 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville, N.C., with the Rev. Monsignor Joseph Kerin officiating. Mr. Reginald Lewis AMMONS, age 48, of 3015 Reynolds Run, McDonough, Ga. departed this life Monday, May 12, 2003. Margrit Ackermann BRODER, 83, of Stockbridge, died Thursday, May 15, 2003. A native of Switzerland, Mrs. Broder with her husband and three children moved to Stockbridge in 1951. She was a homemaker, the mother of eight children, and an integral part of the family dairy farm operation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19 at Saint Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro, with Father Gregory Hartmayer serving as celebrant. Joann Wood COTTER, 71, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in Henry County Medical Center. Mrs. Cotter was a native of Calera, Ala., but made her home in Milledgeville for many years. Her husband, Dr. David Cotter, preceded her in death. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama, a former teacher with the Baldwin County Board of Education, where she retired in 1992 with 32 years of service. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, the Teacheriffics singing group from West End Elementary School, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, May 17, with Father Michael McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. from Tuscaloosa Memorial Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala., with the Rev. Joseph Robinson officiating. Mrs. Mary Rowan DANIEL, age 84, of McDonough, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Dogwood Forest. She was born Nov. 17, 1918, in Henry County, daughter of the late Annie Brannan and Robert Tyre Rowan. Mrs. Daniel was a devoted homemaker, a member of Flippen United Methodist Church, a delegate of the United Methodist Church Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference in 1984 and 1988, a delegate to General Conference in 1984, served on the board of directors for Vashti School for four years, served on North Georgia Conference Board of Global Ministries for eight years, Trustee on North Georgia Council of Moral and Civic Concerns, and represented the Red Cross for home service in Pike County for more than 20 years. Her husband, Harold T. Daniel Sr. preceded her in death March 13, 2001, and brother, Horace Rowan on June 22, 2001. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Flippen United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Demore and the Rev. James Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Janice Kay LUMPKIN of Morrow died Thursday, May 15, 2003. Jan was a devoted wife, loving mother and active church member. Jan was born in Gadsden, Ala. to Bill and Beatrice Tuck. Ernest Garvin KING, age 76, of Forest Park and formerly of Atlanta, passed away Friday, May 16, 2003, at Emory Hospital. He was born June 20, 1926, the ninth child of 11 children born to John Thomas King and Nancy Mamie Lunsford King. He was raised in the West End area and was a member of West End Baptist Church. He attended Lee Street Elementary and Boys High. After serving in the United States Army he came back under the G. I. Bill, he was graduated at Joe Brown High School Class of 1948. He retired after 25 years of service with The City of Atlanta Fire Department Station 25 (Cascade and Sewell Roads). He also retired from Rich's Distribution Center (Candler Warehouse and Stone Mountain). He had recently retired as a courier for BankAmerica n Beav n Ex. He was a member of the American Legion Bolton Post 156. He was past commander and current Adjundant for that Post. A member of 40 Hommes ET 8 Chevaux, Voiture Local 217.
